Nasce l'Osservatorio Astronomico del C.A.N.A.
Amalfi Coast Starlight Reserve Astronomical Observatory
a Tramonti in Costiera Amalfitana
In Tramonti (SA) in the mountains of the Amalfi Coast is born the Astronomical Observatory of CANA
For the realization of the structure, was decisive participation of the association ACAR.Bio Association (Amalfi Coast Biosphere Reserve) and thanks to the efforts of President ACAR.Bio Dr. Vincenzo Sannino and availability of Amodio brothers (owners of Refuge ) who have provided materials and labor for the construction of the structure. We have instead of CANA effected the installation of the telescope.
Actually the Observatory is equipped with a Meade 8 "f 10, is imminent, however, the replacement of the instrumentation with a telescope of 14" frame on the German way. Also a new CCD camera will be installed, a solar telescope and everything will remotizing.
The structure of the observatory:
| The structure that houses the telescope is born from the restructuring of a panoramic view point built entirely of wood. After a reinforcement of the structure was rebuilt the roof at the end end of the work will be sliding for the opening of the Center. | ![]() |
| The sliding part of the roof is the only part made of iron and runs on 2 rails resting on wooden beams very robust. The opening of the roof is manual, but in future will be powered. | ![]() |
| The tool that is currently installed within a Meade Schmidt Cassegrain telescope with a diameter of 200 mm and 2000 mm focal length. For the future we plan to equip the Center with a larger instrument and to remote entire hotel | ![]() |
